Here we present some of our favourite James Bond-inspired cocktail recipes, which are either original creations or our adaptations of stunning drinks created by others, both classic and modern.
Rémy Julienne
Dedicated to the memory of legendary stunt driver Rémy Julienne (1930-2021). It may be the most outrageously stereotypically French thing since A View To A Kill's taxi driver and, like Julienne's driving, it's intense.
Vesper Lynd (Andress edition)
The seventh (and final!) of my cocktails in honour of Casino Royale 1967 is a more alcoholic version of the classic Aviation cocktail. It’s the perfect fit for the jet-setting super spy/criminal Vesper Lynd, as played by Ursula Andress.
The Detainer
The sixth of seven special cocktails to celebrate the seven James Bonds at the heart of the 1967 Casino Royale is inspired by The Detainer, the female James Bond who kills the villain by making him ingest his own nuclear bomb containing tablet (it's a long story).
Coop’s Resolve
The fifth of my cocktails celebrating Casino Royale 1967 is a mocktail (sort of). In the film, the character Coop is trained to go against his nature and resist the charms of women. It's a wonderfully perverse scene. In a similar spirit of abstention…
Evelyn Tremble’s Beside Table
The fourth of seven special cocktails to celebrate the completion of my queer re-view of Casino Royale '67.Green seems the appropriate colour for Peter Sellers's character, a card sharp compelled to become 'James Bond', who is inexperienced in the ways of the world.
Moneypenny’s Night Work
In Casino Royale 1967, Miss Moneypenny has the onerous job of evaluating the attractiveness of the Secret Service’s hottest male agents. It’s thirsty work but this drink should help.
Sir James Bond
Sir James Bond, from the 1967 Casino Royale, is the celbate and serious spy (played by David Niven) trying to give the Secret Service back some of its dignity. The drink version is a similarly refined creation.
Mata Bond
Inspired by Mata Bond, daughter of Mata Hari and Sir James Bond, the drink embodies a mixture of tradition with the free-spirit of the 60s. I purposely went for glasswear that resembled a lava lamp, but you can drink in whatever.
G and Q-uTie
The tipple of choice for Ben Whishaw’s Q when he’s working late from home.
Fontainebleau Margarita
In honour of Sean Connery rocking that baby blue towelling romper in Goldfinger’s opening at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami.
Baron Sazerac
Honour the roots of Haitian and New Orleans Voodoo by swapping brandy for Caribbean rum in the classic NOLA cocktail, the Sazerac (the drink Felix tries to get Bond to try in Live and Let Die).
Gun under your pillow
Relive Bond’s recurring sleepless nights over Paris Carver’s death by combining Champagne and tequila.
Volpe’s Last Kiss Kiss
Not to be outdone in the mixology department, my husband put together this Thunderball-inspired concoction guaranteed to make your evening go with a bang bang.
Rosa Klebb’s Broken Heart 💓🌹
What’s your poison? This drink commemorates Rosa Klebb’s last ditch attempt to get back at Bond for stealing Tatiana away from him (that’s how I see the end of From Russia With Love anyway…)
City of Lovers
A new cocktail to celebrate the release of the new single by Chris Wood, with visuals by Spencie d’Entremont and Billy Robertson. With this drink I aimed to capture the flavour of the doomed romance between Bond and Vesper in Casino Royale.
Dawn Raid On Fort Knox
I stole this recipe from Matt at Dryzzle Media in a daring dawn raid. It’s a golden delight - morning, noon or night
For Your Prides Only
This may be my favourite cockatil I’ve ever invented. I made it for the first time when I was writing my queer re-view of For Your Eyes Only, midway through Pride Month 2020 🏳️🌈. The name pretty much wrote itself.
We Have All The Thyme In The World
To be served at the wedding reception of Mr and Mrs James Bond.
Moonraker ‘79
A Moonraker is a classic cocktail dating back to at least 1930. I’ve just brought it into the space age (well, 1979).
Natalya Simonova
Named for GoldenEye’s heroine: programmer, survivor, dreamer and world saviour.
