Moonraker ‘79

A Moonraker is a classic cocktail dating back to at least 1930. I’ve just brought it into the space age (well, 1979).

The Moonraker cocktail first appeared in the Savoy Cocktail Book, published in 1930. It was written by the famous hotel’s bartender Harry Craddock, who created many concoctions that have become famous (e.g. Corpse Reviver #2, White Lady). The Moonraker never achieved much fame, which is a real shame, as it’s spectacular. I’ve pretty much just used Craddock’s recipe and added a beautiful (but hopefully not deadly) garnish.

25ml brandy

25ml Dubonnet

25ml crème de peche

Dash absinthe (or Pernod)

'Take it around the world one more time' (shake all ingredients vigorously with large ice)

Garnish with petals from the deadly Orchidae Nigri (dried rose petals, available in supermarkets with the spices)

DO NOT drink before taking charge of a space shuttle
