Jim Fanning Friday 2023: Bow Ties Are Forever

Jim Fanning Friday celebrates the dedication and diversity (and some might say insanity) of the international Bond fan community. This year’s event, on Friday 24th February, was our biggest yet.

Jim Fanning Friday can be traced back to September 2020 and had its first community celebration in February 2021 with Bow Tie To Die For.

Even more people joined in the following year for Bow Tie Another Day.

We’ve even had special art work, including from Billy Robertson (Billy’s Bond Art), Pat Carbajal and Adam Lowbell.

Now a well-established event in the Bond community calendar, 2023’s event was called Bow Ties Are Forever. Thanks to member of the Licence to Queer family Chris Eeles for coming up with the name.

On Friday 24th February, dozens of Bond fans took a selfie of themself (or their pet) wearing a bow tie and posted it online using the hashtag #JimFanningFriday.

The official title art work was produced once again by Reuben Wakeman (Toys Of Bond).

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped spread the Jim Fanning love.

Here is the collage of this year’s participants:

There were a few inanimate objects this year too, which I couldn’t include in the collage because there just wasn’t enough space with all the people and animals.

For the second year running, Bond author Kim Sherwood joined in the fun. This year, I was delighted to be able to celebrate the day in person with Kim. She suggested we film me helping her tie her own bow tie. You can watch how we got on below:

Jim Fanning Friday will return in 2024!
